More On Cameras And Tablet PCs

Photographer Yesterday I posted about the possibility of having Tablet PCs equipped with digital cameras. A couple of readers (James Kendrick and Mark Sumimoto(Sumocat)) posted excellent comments that alluded to the possible security issues this could pose.

Today, this CNET article points to new technology that could keep those prying lenses away, perhaps obviating some of those concerns. Excerpt:

The technology they've devised detects the presence of a digital camera up to 33 feet away and can then shoot a targeted beam of light at the lens, according to Shwetak Patel, a grad student at the university and one of the lead researchers on the project.

I don't think it will erase all of the fears and concerns that Mark and jk point to. Where there's a will there's a way.
