This Is Scary

Apparently hackers are taking to blackmail now when trying to take down a site. This article in the Financial Times says the FBI is investigating the hijacking of The MillionDollar Homepage and the ransom demanded to release it.

The brainchild of Alex Tew, the MillionDollar Homepage became a sensation almost overnight, when Tew began selling ads for his home page literally pixel by pixel. The hijackers launched a DDoS attack and then demanded a ransom to stop it.

According to the website this isn't the first site to be attacked this way. I'm betting it won't be the last.

The hosting service for the site increased their security so the site is back up.
