Some Sunday morning reading to share.
From Brian Krebs of Security Fix: Invasion of the Computer Snatchers. Fascinating article and interview with a hacker who spends his life invading computers. There's more on the Security Fix blog that was cut from the original Washington Post Sunday Magazine article.
Providential History. Bascially a reworking of history that casts the outcome as all of God's handy-work. I can buy those who think this way because they believe everything is a part of the big guy's plan, but don't go re-writing history the way these folks do, to make it conform. Read the last paragraph and it makes you wonder when Christians will start rioting over political cartoons.
Let's hire the UAE to run everything, shall we. Apparently we have such a high rate of employment in this country that we are going to not only hire the United Arab Emirates to run six of our major ports, but now they are building a SpacePort for commerical space travel in the UAE. Is it just me or is there something screwy with this?
And speaking of security issues, comes word via BoingBoing that a couple of Homeland Security cops strolled into a library and announced to all that searching for porn was illegal. They asked one Internet user to step outside when in steps the librarian. The police arrive and the HS guys are arrested. Don't you feel safer now?
MiniMage's take on the RIAA changing its mind (does it actually have one?) on allowing CDs to be ripped to an iPod.
William Safire's (one of my favorite language geeks) take on blargon or Blogger Jargon.(Make sure you catch his correcton on the Mick Jagger's line from the Super Bowl at the end of the article. Priceless.)
There may be legislative hope for community or municipal wireless. Seems two senators have proposed bills that take steps to make it possible. I wouldn't hold my breath.
And for those who haven't gotten their fill of the Dick Cheney Shooting Scandal, here we have the victim, Harry Whittington singing I'm All Shot Up (The song starts playing when you click the link.) Via The J-Walk Blog.
