Can Someone Enforce That Trademark On Greed 2.0?

Give me a break. Farce can't be any funnier or expose any more human failings than this latest "I've got a lawyer and a trademark" escapade. Apparently, Tim O'Reilly and his group have decided to send in the lawyers (cue Send In The Clowns) and quell IT@Cork's use of O'Reilly's trademarked, (yet completely meaningless) phrase, Web 2.0.

As the legal beagles fall over themselves to stuff briefs into briefcases, and the PR Puffins dance with the damage control chorus, this has the potential to turn into a Keystone Cops or Three Stooges episode. Someone must have been reading the RIAA playbook and forgot to read the sub-head, How to Piss Off Damn Near Everybody.

My good buddy, Marc Orchant likens the episode to the horrid fascination of watching an auto wreck. Close, but I think this is more like watching an oversized toddler in a playpen throw the toys out and then cry when a brother or sister plays with them. Methinks Mr. O'Reilly is going to really need the vacation after he gets back from this current one and has to clean up this mess.
