Mark Cuban : The Internet Is Dead and Boring (just like the Cubs)

chicago-cubs Mark Cuban continues on with his "The Internet is Dead and Boring" meme. His focus is on bandwidth issues or the lack thereof and how that will stifle growth on the Internet. He calls it a utility. And in that light you have to agree that historically, like most utilities, when the focus turns to profit gathering rather than providing service things do historically begin to slide. Investing in infrastructure is expensive, for awhile lucrative though never sexy, and often is the first thing to go when it comes time to take the next step to increase the bottom line profit taking. Witness any of our public utilities over the last century. Actually witness any enterprise. Without government intervention (tax breaks and the like) you'd see even less infrastructure investment in the so called private sector.

Another logical example of Cuban's argument is the Chicago Cubs, which he is bidding to own. Why invest in what it takes to win when the customers keep coming?
