Faking Fun

So when is a fake not a fake? When everyone things it is real, or at least wants to believe it is real? I'm not sure. But Fake Steve Jobs seems to have plunged into that middle ground with quite a few folks. Satirizing this week's news that Apple bought out the rumor blog, Think Secret, in a settlement that shut that blog down, Fake Steve has been playing mind games by blogging that Apple has approached him with a similar deal to try and shut him down. It is almost getting into Gillmor Gang territory as far as the surrealism goes, with some playing along, and some believing it, and some just following along. If it is just another attempt to back away from the Fake Steve shtick, it is a funny one. If it satiric commentary, it is very good. If it is just more of the same, it is yanking quite a few chains, including, I'm guessing quite a few in Cupertino. Whatever it is, I'm enjoying the silliness.
