Sunday Morning Reading
Some Sunday morning reading to share.
The Audacity of Hopelessness. Frank Rich dissects the Clinton Campaign in what may or may not be a premature obituary.
The NY Times Ombudsman takes his paper to task for the McCain flap.
Japan launches a satellite that looks to provide high-speed Internet access. Michael Parekh has some intriguing commentary on this.
Oscar night is here and some are focusing on the very dark and brooding films up for major awards. Intriguingly on the theatre scene this year, we're looking backwards in an almost Reagan-esque way to revivals of plays from the 1950's.
And speaking of theatre revivals, the current remount of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, featuring James Earl Jones as Bid Daddy, is taking hits for re-inserting some of Tennessee Williams' original four letter vulgarity. The language was toned down for the original Broadway run, but was eventually brought back in smaller regional productions. Also intriguing, when it was revived a few years ago, with Ned Beatty as Big Daddy, complete with vulgarity, it didn't raise much of a stir.
Did you know there was a Geek defense for murder? I didn't. But apparently this guy's lawyer is giving it a try.
And to round out today's Sunday morning reading, how about a little video about a Vegan Strip club. Check out Meat on the Pole, not on the Plate.
