There really shouldn't be any surprise here at all about this. Once the audio of Reverend Hagee saying that Hitler was just doing the Lord's work with the Holocaust started making the rounds, you knew John McCain would drop him and his endorsement like a hot potato. And, so he did. What's intriguing about this is the timing. I know the Democratic faithful are anxious to start taking shots at John McCain, but to help Obama's cause this would have helped much later in the game than it will now. Nobody throws their own under a bus quicker than the Republicans. On the other hand, this could neutralize the wacky reverend issue a bit in the campaign.
