Things Going On In The Real World

While I've been up to my neck in alligators trying to close down one theatre and get our traditional home theatre back open after renovations, and a lot of the rest of the worlds I play in have been paying attention to the Presidential Follies, some other things of note have been going on in the real world.

Here are a few things that caught my eye today:

Will the US and Iran Start a War at Sea? After hearing that SecDef Gates said he was sending another carrier to the gulf as a "reminder," this article in Newsweek makes one shudder with some apprehension.

It looks like the DC Madam may have committed suicide. I'm sure a lot of folks inside the Beltway are breathing easier.

Gas prices and gas profits. Exxon Mobil is netting $5 million an hour. In profit. Supply and demand, my ass.

Remember that little thorny issue about the Telcos being in bed with the Feds over surveillance activities, and the Feds trying to get them some immunity. Turns out some Freedom of Information disclosure might have turned up a few documents.
