Bye-bye Pownce. Six Apart just acquired the social service and is going to shut it down in a few weeks. Similar to Twitter (and others) but different in that Pownce allowed users to add a payload that could include pictures, short videos, and music files. It looks like Six Apart wanted the folks doing the coding and not the service from what I’m reading, so we’ll see what’s up with that in the future, I’m sure.
I gave Pownce a try when it first debuted and quickly forgot about it, doing most of my connecting on Twitter instead. I’m guessing a lot others did as well.
