I don’t think we’ll ever see good news replace bad news in the media. You know, if it bleeds it leads, that sort of thing. But lately, when there has been a smidgen of good news on the economy, articles and reports like this one from The New York Times begin with a somewhat astonished air about them.
Of course the reason for that is what’s sad. Good news about the economy is still unusual and is bucking the trends these days. The unexpected is always news, which begs the question, when will the media start to realize that the constant stream of sturm and drang is getting a bit long in the tooth.
