We started rehearsals yesterday for The Gin Game at Wayside Theatre and after the initial business stuff got out of the way, we got down to blocking the show. This classic play features two characters, Weller and Fonsia, playing Gin for most of the play, so figuring out how to make that flow with the dialogue and action is a big part of the rehearsals. Fortunately the script offers us a few clues to make that easier.
But intriguingly enough, just like in the play, the actress playing Fonsia, Faith Potts, won every hand yesterday. Life imitating art? Who knows. But it sure gave us a fun boost to the first day of rehearsals.
