Thomasin Reviews The HP 2133 Mini-Note

My lovely wife, Thomasin, has a new career starting as a gadget reviewer from a decidedly non-geek perspective. Back in December she did a first look at the Asus Eee PC, which we can't pry out of her hands now. And now that GottaBeMobile.com has gotten a review unit of the new HP 2133 Mini-Note I thought I'd get her unvarnished opinion on that ultra-portable device as well. We may be little known, but where else to you get videos with shower scenes and mass destruction of gadgets as well as good mobile tech info?

Dopplegangers On The Web Make Me See Double

This is weird. I'm used to seeing posts from Wicked Stage and those I write on GottaBeMobile.com on splogs and other blogs. Scraping and grabbing content is unfortunately a way of life. But when my name appeared as a by-line on this post I thought that's odd. I've never written, nor could I with my lack of knowledge on the subject, anything that extensively about Linux and Linux drivers.

Of course if you follow the links it takes you from one site to another to another, which eventually reveals the original post.on Apreche.net written by Scott Rubin.

Truly bizarre, but then in this day and age on the web, what isn't?

Heading To The GBM Meetup in Colorado

I'm off for what promises to be a fun time. I'm hooking up with members of the GottaBeMobile.com Team in Colorado Springs and we discuss and plan what's next for GBM and have a blast with Tablet PCs and UMPCs. On Saturday, Sept 8, we are also hooking up with quite a few GBM Readers and fellow Tablet PC geeks for what also promises to be more fun than any of us can shake a stylus with.

Should be a fun weekend.

I've had interesting reactions to gadget reviews and commentary before, but this is the first time I've had someone say they got moist because of an InkShow review! Chris Davies of SlashGear had this to say about my InkShow review of the TabletKiosk Sahara i440D Slate Tablet PC on GottaBeMobile.com:

Yesterday it was the game changing HTC Shift InkShow, which is pretty much an exclusive, today it is the Fujitsu U1010. GBM mate Hugo Ortega is relentless as he prepares to head off for a vacation. He keeps getting his hands on shiny new devices, and cranking out excellent video reviews. It has prompted some to think he might be an alien. Nah. He's just an UBER Geek, without par. Go Hugo! Dell Tablet PC Specs on GBM

Put on your Hawaiian shirts and get out your buzz saws. A GottaBeMobile.com reader has provided GBM with a list of specs on Dell's new Tablet PC.

Blogging, Micro-Blogging, and More (or less)

Steve Rubel blogs some interesting thoughts that are on quite a few minds these days with the advent of Twitter, Pownce, Facebook, and other social trends. Is micro-blogging on these platforms the wave of the future? Who really knows. As I keep saying, it is way too early to tell.

Using a sports analogy Steve says he now has a short game and a long game when it comes to writing and sharing his thoughts and I find that occasionally I feel the same way. Although truth be told, the micro-blogging platforms are still the first thing that I don't pay attention to when I'm crunched with work. But that's not entirely true. Through Twitterfeed, I'm able to send feeds to Twitter whether I blog here or on GBM. I'm also able to send Pownce feeds through to Twitter as well, so there is some sort of quasi-long/short game thing going on there.

The real test of this in my case will be after the first of the year when I do my traveling. We'll see how that plays out. In the mean-time, I'll keep both parts of my game in practice as best I can.
