When Satire Nails It: Hitler on the Obama School Speech

I was contemplating a post about what I see as the danger behind a lot of the political and social upheaval we’re going through at the moment. The gist would have been that those trying so desperately to win are preying on the uneducated and the undereducated in ways that others have done down through history. It is a despicable practice, but a time tested one.

But as I was pondering I came across this video this morning. The Hitler reaction videos have become quite popular on the Internet, and I’m sure this one will as well, although I think the semiotics and context that surrounding current attitudes will make this particular video and the satire it contains perhaps more dangerous.

Check out this satirical video of a conservative mom.

“Obama says he wants kids to study hard. Which we all know is a slippery slope to becoming a Nazi.”

I’m guessing some folks really do feel this way based on what I’m seeing, so I’m not sure if the parody works, or works too well.

In a Day of Parody Posts about Apple, Apple Claims Jailbreaking iPhones Encourages Terrorism

I’m beginning to wonder if someone in Cupertino is taking lessons from Sarah Palin. The only thing Apple didn’t mention in talking about jailbreaking iPhones encouraging terrorism is our soldiers dying for our freedoms.

According to this Wired post, Apple is indeed saying that those hacking away and jail breaking their iPhones could damage cell phone towers and leave us vulnerable to threats that could harm our national security. Visions of black helicopters and agents with guns busting down doors start dancing in my head.

Yeah, it’s more complex than that, but coming on a day when Apple took a double hit of parody from The Onion and BBSpot, it makes you wonder how the old “sense of humor” thermometer in Cupertino is registering today.

Too, too, funny, and the parody is dead on.

Walt Mossberg Puppet on Arrington and Google Chrome

Fake Steve Jobs is back and he’s pointing to a pretty funny puppet parody of Walt Mossberg taking on Mike Arrington and his thoughts on the Google Chrome OS and computers that don’t need anything but a browser. I guess we now are going to see more knockoffs of Loren Feldman’s puppet shtick, even if they don’t cut as deep.

(Warning some of the language is more than adult.)
