Nvidia CEO Brings Out The 'Whoop Ass'

If this wasn't about serious issues and serious money it would be hysterical. Wait a minute. Never mind. It is hysterical. In ongoing war between Nvidia and Intel over the Integrated Graphics market, Nvidia's CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang decided to get down and dirty and said, "We're going to open a can of whoop ass" before proceeding to jump all over many of Intel's claims. You have to also love this line that apparently came later in the diatribe: "How much faster can you render the blue screen of death?"

Oh, my.

Sunday Morning Reading

Some Sunday Morning reading to share. Biting the Hand Edition.

snake It was fun (for awhile) watching Gnomedex from afar yesterday both on the UStream stream and on Twitter. It was ...er... um.. entertaining to watch a bitch fight break out between Dave Winer and Jason Calacanis, that of course continued on their blogs. Two comments. From what I can gather, all of this seems centered on Winer's belief that Gnomedex is a non-commercial conference. Maybe I don't get it, but with all of the sponsor logos and swag/prizes  (another form of advertising) surrounding Pirillo's show it sure seems, um... slightly commercial, even if the speakers aren't supposed to use their time to pitch. (Not knocking it. You can't have events like this without that kind of support.) Thought two? Aren't most folks attending these things hoping  other's commercial magic rubs off a little?

Someone got hold of the mysterious Vista SP1 and did an analysis

A report says the US ranks 42nd in life expectancy. Can we see a report on where the US ranks in terms of compensation for doctors and insurance execs?.

Embattled Attorney General takes a trip to Baghdad and when asked why he states that "the rule of law mission is very, very important here." Can he say that with a straight face?

The new War Czar says we ought to consider reinstating the draft. So that's why they hired this guy: to take the fall for opening his mouth on that suggestion.

Cringley continues to look at why the US is so stupidly behind in the broadband sector. This series has been great reading.

A guy cuts the head off of a rattlesnake. Then tries to pick up the severed head. It does a back flip and bites him. Ouch.

To XP Or Not To XP

Earlier this week we heard that Microsoft would be discontinuing sales of XP to OEMs after the first of the year. You know,  that Vista thing is the future. Now comes word that Dell, who had stopped selling XP as an OS option is now apparently listening to their customers and offering XP again. Wonder where this is all heading?

Microsoft Sued Over Vista Marketing

This was about as predictable as the delay in an OS release. A class action suit has been filed against Microsoft for its marketing of Vista. Folks don't seem to like the fact that Vista Capable is such a moving target of a definition.

Defend Your Wow?

I have to agree with Jake Luddington on this one. Microsoft needs some new marketing folks big time.

My Wow doesn’t need defending, thank you very much.

Chris Pirillo Thinks He Could Market Vista Better

And I think he's probably right. Actually I think anyone could do a better job. Pirillo not only thinks he has better ideas but could do it cheaper, say for a cool million, which is considerably less than Microsoft spent. Again, I agree. How much was spent on those folks dancing on the side of a building, I wonder?

Christmas Eve Reading

Some Christmas Eve Reading to share.

Folks are crazy at Christmas time we all know that. Some are even stupid. Why should Christmas criminals be any different. What fruitcakes.

Andy Borowitz takes on Lou Dobbs taking on illegal immigration as it comes to that North Pole immigrant, Santa Claus.

Absolutely nothing to do with Christmas but great reading nonetheless. Joel Spolsky and his take on Steve Gillmor's Bad Sinatra rant. Brilliant.

The original A Visit From St. Nicholas (Twas the Night Before Christmas) and a series of parodies that will give you a chuckle.

Pete Wright's Twas The Night Before Vista (from a year ago, still gives you a chuckle and some things haven't changed.)

Add Knights To Your Round Table

Gizmodo is going all domestic on us and I guess I'm doing the same. The Fletcher Capstan Table sure looks like a nifty addition to the dining room. It can expand from seating 6 to 12. I like the looks of it, of course I'll need to find a house big enough to fit the thing if I ever wanted to go down this route. There's a video of this on Gizmodo.

Symantec Keeps Crying, I'm Not Buying

I''m gettng ready tired of reading articles about Symantec complaining about Vista cutting it out of the security market. Sure they may have a point about Microsoft crowding them out the market. I suggest Microsoft is doing us all a favor. I used to be a religious Symantec user until I just got tired of the lousy programming that fouled system after system up. If Symantec wants to hang on to their piece of the market, they need to come up with a product that doesn't bring a system to a crawl in the name of security.
