According to Brian Krebs' Security Fix column, Mark Russinovich, the security researcher who broke the Sony BMG Rootkit Fiasco wide open has joined the defense plaintaiff's team in a class action suit being filed in New York.
Russinovich is quoted as saying that he "wanted to make sure that a message was sent loud and clear to Sony and hopefully to the rest of the industry."
Sony's in more legal hot water over the issue with a suit filed by the State of Texas and a possible one brewing from The State of New York. It appears that Eliot Spitzer's office sent investigators out to local stores a week after Sony recalled the CDs and they were still able to purchase the Rootkit CDs off the shelf.
