Craig Pringle links to an article in TechnologyReview.com called Detecting Gunfire At the Speed of Light, highlighting the use of ruggedized Tablet PCS to help soldiers pin down the location of snipers in combat.
The system is made by Radiance Technologies and is called WeaponWatch. It supposedly can pinpoint the location of the shot fired before it can hit the target. According to the article it can determine the location of the shooter before the sound of the shot can even be heard.
Sounds amazing.
Speaking of ruggedized Tablet PCs, James Kendrick linked to The TechNewsRadio Podcast and a discussion of ruggedized Tablet PCs.
