Michael Parekh, like other Tablet PC enthusiasts, as been following the posts about the CES Tablet PC meetup. Lots of enthusiasm and talk of fun times (Lora has the best round up of links outside of tech.memeorandum.) But Michael wants more. He wants to know what was discussed (check jk's pictures and you know what was being discussed when Buzz Bruggeman was standing on the table.)
But what gets me is that none of the folks who were there posted on WHAT WAS ACTUALLY DISCUSSED about TABLET PCs at the event.
For instance,
- What burning questions/issues did people have on the evolution of Tablet PCs into 2006 and beyond?
- What were the general observations/impressions of some of the stuff showed at CES by folks like Motion Computing, OQO, DualCor cPc etc.? (incidentally, JK has a SEPARATE post on the DualCor cPc that's pretty good).
- After having seen Motion's LS800 "slate" compact Tablet PC and OQO's +! with the Tablet PC OS installed, what did folks think of the two side by side?
- What were Tablet PC apps/utilities/software most folks there excited about? Used most?
- Any other general insights into buying/using/evaluating/contemplating Tablet PCs going forward?
Michael's "beef"is half spot on and half not. (Being fair he says he is not ranting just looking for deeper discussion.) Some of this is the memeorandum factor as Tablet PC news seems to mostly make the rounds on that mashup during the weekend when other tech news is slow. Some of this I'm sure is due to the craziness that is CES itself. But, if you scoured the Tableteer blogs and Tablet PC Buzz during the show there indeed was plenty being posted, but it was mostly first blush reporting. When the dust settles and everyone has a chance to sort through the chaos I'm hoping we'll hear more.
