Apple's Fun New Products?

Well, Mr. Jobs made his announcments and I have to say that I'm a bit underwhelmed. Not just because there was no Apple Tablet announcment, because I really didn't expect one. Granted a dual core Mac Mini with updated Front Row software will be a pretty interesting home media device but from what I'm reading some of the orchard tenders are not overly thrilled.

I was also going to ponder on the very prominently featured new iPod case for only $99, but Kevin Tofel, has blogged exactly what I'm thinking so check out what he has to say.

Colin Walker Updates On His Vista CTP Experience

Colin Walker has posted an update, with a number of pictures, of his continuing Vista experiences on his Tablet PC. He highlights what is new with this build and while I am tyring to figure out why there isn't a standard Intel wireless driver included he reports that after similar puzzling difficulties at first, the wireless just started working on its own with his Tablet PC. Now that's intriguing.

Thanks for the vicarious Vista update Colin. While I've got Vista on the M200, work will keep me from doing much with it for a bit as I travel to another audition conference this week.

Another Wayside Theatre Blogger Makes His Debut

I knew this would happen. My good friend and collaborator on so many shows here at Wayside Theatre, Steve Pryzyblski, has started blogging. His new blog Ten Cents On The Dime just went live today. Steve is one of the few geeks I have to talk geek with here at the theatre, and even though he's a Mac guy, we have lots of good times. He's also heavily into Open Source stuff and one of the best composers and music directors I've ever worked with. We also have the same sick sense of humor.

Maxthon Browser Passes 50 Million Download. New Version Due Soon

Om Malik points out that the browser alternative no body talks about, Maxthon has passed the 50 million download mark and that version 2.0 is due soon. I'm anxious to see what they do with the new version as I really like this browser.  Maxthon's use of tabs is much more intuitive to me than either IE7 or Firefox. When I'm in non-inking mode it is my browser of choice. If they would add an Ink component, I'd use it all the time.

Did You Know OneNote 2007 Has A Calculator? Check Out Napkin Math

Chris Pratley calls it Napkin Math. Appropriate when you think of OneNote has that place to gather all your notes. OneNote 2007 has a calculator of sorts built in, so that you don't have to that math on napkins any longer.

Engadget's PhotoShop Contest Yields Apple Tablets

Olga and Lynn from Tabletology linked to Engadget's What Would Steve Jobs Do? Photoshop Contest. Quite an array of viewing in this orchard and quite a few Apple Tablets in the entries including the winner. (not pictured here)

So, I'm guessing from the number of Tablet entries, the answer to the question would be that Mr. Jobs would pull his hair out that so many are anxious for him to bring an Apple Tablet to market. You know since he likes Tablets so much. Wonder if that'll change today or not.

Vista Installed On My M200

I finally took the plunge and installed the latest Vista CTP in a dual boot configuration on my M200. Still having some driver issues, specifically with WiFi and I've tried a few things out here and there and won't get much time to really experiment until I return from this week's SETC audition conference. I certainly don't have Glass in this configuration, and I'd love to figure out the driver thing for WiFi as it is sure strange to have to plug in a LAN cable again.

Onward and upward.
