Philips is apparently working on technology that will keep TV viewers from switching channels during a commerical break. Of course, this would also keep you from fast forwarding on your DVR as well, unless perhaps you pay a price to do so. Definitely a bad thing. What's next? Technology that straps you to your chair and forces you to sit through the commercial breaks. Give me a break. You'd think the very smart folks who think up advertising schemes would take the hint that no one wants to view the commercials and look at other methods.
