Yesterday was our 10 out of 12 technical and dress rehearsal. We started at 11am and finished at 10:42pm. Between 11am and 4pm we managed to get through over 140 light cues (great job Chris and Malia) and between 6pm and 10:42pm we got through a first dress of the show and some notes starting around 7:30pm. It was magic to see it come to life. It wasn't perfect and we've got work to do. But for the first time the vision was complete on stage and it feels really good and really powerful. Kudos to the cast for their focus and intensity throughout the day.
We actually had a couple of guests who happened to stroll by the theatre before we began and they wanted to sit in. They were very impressed and really enjoyed what they liked. Most importantly they understood the story. Tonight we have a brief work session than suit up and go again. Tomorrow are our first two audiences. Then Sunday we'll have a two hour call to tighten down and fix a few things after we get audience response.
I think we are on to something special here.
