Here we go. Today we have our first two audiences with previews at 2:30pm and 8pm. Are we ready? I think so. Last night's second dress went very well, with a rough start to the first act but we got our legs back under us quickly and the remainder of the first act just sailed. We tightened down the screws on the story telling at the opening of the second act and it really helped. Kudos to the actors who carry that weight in those scenes. They all made excellent choices to move the story along and raise the stakes. I stop watching the action as much today and focus on watching the audience. I'll be able to tell when we have them and when we don't, and that will set our agenda for the notes today and work tomorrow.
I have to say this, the show is gorgeous to look at. The costumes, set, and lighting create some amazing pictures. We've got some work on focusing the action in and down with the lighting today and tomorrow, and that again, will help keep the story moving and in focus.
I wish we had two more days of rehearsal to tweak and focus down. We don't. Communication will be the key as we try to accomplish that work through notes and a work call tomorrow.
