Josh Bancroft Wants To Answer Your Questions

My GottaBeMobile colleague Rob Bushway already blogged this today on GBM, and I usually don't cross post most of what is on GBM, but this is just too cool. Josh Bancroft, who works for Intel, and blogs on Tiny Screenfuls, (I have frequently linked to him here and on GBM), has put out a request for questions. Not only does he want questions about things going on at Intel, but he's going to blog the answers. Unless others do it first, as seems to be the case with Rob's initial question.

Jason Calacanis Does The Podcast Thing For Philanthropy

Kudos to Jason Calacanis. He's launching a podcast with the PodTech network that has a philanthropic model. He's stated his intentions on The Gillmor Gang (one of my favorite podcasts because it is both funny and informative, and Calacanis is the best thing on the show for both reasons) to help set up a few kids in Brooklyn, (his home) so that they can benefit from a private school education.  Calacanis calls the model Media Philanthropy. I call it a good heart.

Rolling Stone: The Worst Congress Ever

A great read. Rolling Stone takes on what they call The Worst Congress Ever. Deep in the long article are some pretty amazing stories of how things have worked, or not worked rather, on Capitol Hill. It is shame that we let this occur, but the we must be content with it, because we do.

If you have any sense of responsibility as a citizen of this country you should read this. Not because I think we should bash the Republicans who have been in control for the last six years, but because we should throw all the bums out. There really is no difference between the clowns in the center ring. None of them are funny anymore.

Baseball As A Uniter?

Two of my favorite writers on just about any topic are George Will and Rabbi Marc Gellman. I don't always agree with either of them, but I love their reasoning and their writing. What's intriguing to me is that both of them write about baseball occasionally. Rabbi Gellman has a wonderful article on Baseball as perhaps the great cultural uniter among the various cultures that try to assimilate into the American experiment.

I buy the thesis, although, to me personally it isn't as powerful anymore after the way MLB has handled the doping scandals.

At any rate, well worth a read.

Stop The Christmas Creep

I noticed this two weeks ago in the local K-Mart. Christmas decorations and merchandise are already in the stores. Next thing you know we'll be rolling out Christmas shopping time right after the 4th of July. Stop the madness. Stop the madness.

Political Bloggers Aim To Game The System With Google Bombs

More evidence that the blogosphere is no different than any other experience that involves humans. Well, maybe not humans, since we are talking about rabid political bloggers here.

Basically the gaming that is planned to take place is that Bloggers are going to try and influence Google and other search engines in the final run up to the election so that negative articles about candidates show up at the top of searches.

I hope no one is surprised by this behavior. Political bloggers are vicious folk, just like political operatives anywhere. I just wonder if the outrage that got displayed over PayPerPost will exhibit itself here from the keepers of the blogging flame.

Cell Phones Increase Risk of Infertility?

What's a mobile warrior to do? First he has to worry about gonad grilling laptops overheating and cooking the family jewels and now this study comes out and says that cellphone usage will increase the risk of infertility. This is going to change the meaning of phone sex at the least.

The Chipmunks Slowed Waaaaaay Down

Too funny. Your Daily Awesome links to a version of The Chipmunks singing their classic Christmas tune that has been slowed way down so the voices of the singers sound like they are singing normally. A mind bender to say the least.
