Bill Gates has penned an Op-Ed in the Washington Post arguing that innovation is the key to staying competitive. Saying that innovation has out paced the interplay between capital and labor as the key to competiveness, he takes a two track approach: better schools and making it easier for foreign-born scientists and engineers to work for US companies.
Of course he’s right on that part of his thesis. He’s also right that it is an issue of political will. Too bad political will has become nothing more than an oxymoron.
