What's next the Chicken Dance? The supposed creator of the Electric Slide wants to stretch his DMCA muscles. He's demanded that YouTube pull down videos referencing the dance and gone after the Ellen DeGeneres Show for an episode that contained some of the choreography.
I love this quote:
Any video that shows my choreography being done incorrectly is being removed. I don't want future generations having to learn it wrong and then relearn it as I am being faced with now because of certain sites and (people) that have been teaching it incorrectly and without my permission. That's the reason I (copyrighted) it in the first place.
First, I'm not sure I'd be all that anxious to claim the Electric Slide is choreography that done incorrectly can be somehow offensive to the original. Second, yes, choreography can be copyrighted. I'm just wondering if stupidity can be as well.
Guess the wedding I went to this weekend owes someone some money.
