About the only subject that engenders more passion than the Presidential Follies these days is Twitter and its ups and downs. Actually, sad to say, there is probably more passion in more circles about Twitter than there is about the election, but that's another story. Blaming Scoble has some passion as well but it is attached to the same meme. We've had videos, we've had blog posts, we've had suggestions, we've got features being dropped out of the API, we've also now got hard questions being asked, and we've got some (not all) answers being given. It is almost turning into a soap opera.
The passion is palpable and I'm guessing not going to subside any time soon because as others have pointed out, Twitter continues to attract users even with all the problems.
I do wonder when things will hit a tipping point though. I haven't seen this much complaining about a product's problems and yet, folks still using it. Heck these days folks usually move on to the next thing, even if the old thing hasn't got problems, much less hanging on to one that is beset by woes as much as Twitter is.
I think everyone wants to believe the folks behind Twitter will right the ship. I also think that they may have missed their opportunity and we might be approaching that tipping point. The latest round of discussions offer some earnestness beyond the entertainment, but time may indeed be running out.
