The Dark Knight is excellent. Great film, great performances, and great direction. Best film of the summer by far. Heath Ledger’s performance is spooky good and what a shame we lost him.
The film is certainly filled with thrills and chills, and so was our movie going experience. I pity the theatre employees. First up for them today, one of the theatres lost air conditioning and they had to move evening shows to another theatre. I don’t know which other film they canceled. The newer theatre was smaller than the original so that caused all kinds of havoc and shows all got off to a late start. As we stood in line, very few folks were heading to other films.
Our theatre had air conditioning. Way too much. We were freezing in our seats by the time the previews ended. Remember those days when movie theatres advertised that they had air conditioning? I think we got several theatres worth if not several decades worth. I don’t think we would have noticed it as much until an usher came in an announced that she was sorry we were all cold and they were working on it.
A credit to the filmmakers, I don’t think anyone left, at least not in front of us. I can take much more air conditioning than most, but even I was shivering in my seat before the end. It was still warm and muggy when we left the theatre but we turned the heat on in the car heading home.
