A US federal judge ruled today that copyright owners must consider “fair use” before sending out a takedown notice.
Good news? I think so, for the moment, but this case is far from over. This one is over the little boy dancing to one of Prince’s songs. (The video has since been put back up.) For the plaintiff to win against Universal, they’ve got to prove that Universal acted in bad faith when they sent the takedown notice.
Yeah, I know you can say these guys act in bad faith all the time (and they do) but like I said, this one is far from over.
