Funny how these things seem to come around every year. My lovely wife Thomasin is celebrating her birthday today. Of course as a part of her day she will be onstage performing. Today she’ll be performing in our world premiere production of Southern Crossroads at Wayside Theatre and sharing her remarkable talents with a new audience of strangers. They will immediately fall in love with her. That’s her gift to everyone. She’s a brilliant actress and when she’s doing her thing, she can light up any audience brighter than any stage light ever could.
She’s also a brilliant life partner and amazing friend, who will stop at nothing to keep us keeping on in every aspect of our life together. In fact, she holds more than just our life together. She holds a lot of the lives at Wayside Theatre together. That’s another of her gifts.
She also makes me and everyone around her laugh. Anyone who knows Thomasin knows at least a half dozen of the wacky things she will say at the most appropriately inappropriate moments. (If we could only write a book!) Anyone around when that happens is immediately on the floor in stitches and also immediately in love with her for life. Her gift of laughter is perhaps the most precious one that she shares.
We’ll have a small party after the show tonight with friends and Wayside Theatre family and we’ll have a good time. I imagine the tiara will come out at some point. But no matter how much fun we have, it can’t possibly be enough to return the joy, the love, and the fun Thomasin shares with us all.
I know nothing I can do or say today can come close to repaying the joy and love she brings to my life. So, I’ll just close this with a big Happy Birthday, sweetheart and a big I Love You.
May you have a great day.
