I overheard this in a coffee shop yesterday between someone who works at one of our rapidly disappearing local papers and one of their customers. The employee of the paper was bemoaning the decline in circulation, advertising, layoffs, etc... The customer just looked him in the eye and said,
"Why do I want to read your paper anymore. All you do is print how much life, politics, the economy, government, and everything else sucks, and is going to get worse, and we don't even get the benefit of that being written by someone local. Why do I want to read what that garbage."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
