Rumors (that could turn into nothing) are a twitter that Apple may be rolling out a Premium App Store in order to allow developers who need/want to charge more to have an easier go of it. Apparently the thinking is that since the market is settling comfortably on App Store prices of free to $2.99 as the norm, a Premium Store will help those who can't see a bottom line success in that range garner a more favorable footing.
Maybe the opposite should be true. Maybe Apple should open a Fart App Store, or rather a Novelty App Store instead. I think it is easier to separate out the thousands of novelties than it would be to elevate what someone will deem as premium. Especially given the haphazard nature of how things do and don't make it into the App Store. Either way I can just imagine the complaints that will occur over what's a premium app and what isn't.
